FAQs

Please find below answers to some of the questions we are often asked. Should you have any questions or would like more information please contact one of our team.

What is an Introductory Live-In Care Agency?

As an Introductory Agency, Vita Cura work to find and introduce you to self-employed Live-In Carers who are then directly managed by you. We take a great deal of care to ensure the Live-In Carers we introduce to you are a good match; understanding your lifestyle and interests as well as having relevant training and experience with regards to your needs. The carers will be paid for their services by you and they will handle their own tax and National Insurance contributions.

What kinds of things will the Carer do?

The exact services will depend on the package of care you require and individual agreement between yourself and your Live-In Carer.
They will usually include:
● Companionship: friendship and emotional support
● Light housework
● Planning and shopping for meals
● Help with any administration, day to day finances etc
● Laundry
● Dressing: help with hair, make-up, shaving etc
● Personal care, incontinence, managing and prompting the taking of medication
● Managing appointments e.g. doctors, hospital, hair etc
● Pet care
● Trips and outings e.g. shopping, visits to friends and family, clubs etc
● Mobility support and safety
● Generally your Live-In Carer will provide peace of mind for family and client
● Any more specific care needs that have been agreed upon

Do your Carers work over the whole of the UK ?

Yes we are able to introduce you to carers who are happy to provide care for you wherever you live.

How long will my Live-In Carer stay?

Your Carer will usually work on a rotation basis e.g. 6 weeks working and 1 week off. However, this will be tailored to your needs and agreed with your Carer. Some carers stay for longer than 6 weeks. This depends on your care needs. We can provide cover for when your main carer has time off. This will usually be one of a small care team ensuring continuity of care.

What do I need to provide for my Live-In Carer?

● A bedroom and access to personal or shared bathroom facilities.
● Food: This is either provided by you (often the same food and meals as their client) or a food allowance.
● Travel Costs: To be agreed with your carer (e.g.a petrol allowance covering travel to your home).

Will my carer be a driver?

If you need your Carer to be a driver then we will accommodate this as part of our matchmaking process. This may mean your carer will have their own car with appropriate business insurance or alternatively relevant car insurance being taken out so the Carer is able to drive the client’s car.
