Adrienne Eden
Client Enquiries Assistant
I am part of the Client Enquiries team here at Vita Cura. My job is to support families during their initial inquiries. This may be for advice about different care options or for more information concerning Live-In Care. I take time to listen to their individual circumstances, answer any questions they may have, and provide them with all the information they need.
During my A-level studies, I decided that I wanted a career in teaching. I suppose I was looking for a vocation, not a job: something that I would be proud of; where I could make a difference. After finishing University, I spent 30 rewarding years as a teacher of young children. Although undoubtedly very hard work, including planning at weekends and evenings, the rewards of seeing children progress made everything worthwhile. When my own children were young: I have a girl and boy 2 years apart, both now with children of their own, I remember juggling my work and child care and I wonder now how I managed it all with energy to spare. Once my husband and I were semi-retired, we moved to Spain for a few years, where I worked on and off in a school, teaching, and advising.
We have been lucky enough as a family that my own parents were alive and well to enjoy their grandchildren. My own parents were based in Liverpool but were able to move to be within walking distance of our house. These were wonderful family years. As my parents grew older my mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and understandably our lives became more challenging.
My family means the world to me and I’m lucky to be happily married after 35 years. I have a wonderful husband and with the addition of two grandsons who bring so much joy into our lives, my life is never quiet !
On the odd occasion when I find myself with any free time, I like to create – from painting, bookmaking to crafts – my ideal day would be spent on any kind of art course! I am also proud to be a member of the Sweet Charity Choir. So far, through our music, the choir has raised nearly £60,000 for various charities.
I feel very fortunate to have had a wonderfully successful professional career, and I believe that many of the personal skills and qualities that make a good teacher are also central to understanding and supporting individuals and families who are seeking help with the needs of a loved one.
I think this is why I enjoy my role at Vita Cura because it involves communicating with people and helping to make a positive difference. Like most of the Vita Cura team, my own experiences with many loved members of my family who needed extra care, are a driving force in my work. Having been in a situation where I needed to organise care for my mum and Father-in-Law, I know how challenging and stressful this can be.
